African Parks

African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on the long-term management of national parks and protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, it manages 24 protected areas in 13 countries, covering more than 20 million hectares, including sites in Angola, Benin, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It employs more than 5,000 staff, including a ranger force of over 2,000.

Most roles are in the parks themselves, and about 97% of employees are nationals of the countries where it operates. Regional and organizational support functions are also based in Johannesburg and in offices in Kenya, Europe and the United States.

African Parks staff run day-to-day park operations: law enforcement and ranger management, ecological monitoring, wildlife translocations, community development, tourism, infrastructure and finance. Support teams cover fundraising, communications and technology. Most roles are based in or near the protected areas it manages across 13 African countries, often in remote locations, with support roles in Johannesburg and offices in Kenya, Europe and the United States.
